Resident Registration at a local municipal office
Resident registration is required for foreigners in order to receive administrative services in Japan. “Temporary Visitor” is not subject to resident registration, but people with residency status that allows them to stay in Japan for more than three months, for example “Designated Activities (1 year) ”, can apply.
Once you have received the residency status of “Designated Activities”, please visit the local municipal office to complete the resident registration. If you were to move inside Japan after registering as a resident, you will only need to notify the local municipal office of your new address. For this reason, please be sure to complete your registration as soon as you start your life in Japan.
We will update this website to provide accurate information, as it changes constantly.

make sure that your information is up to date. If you have any questions, please contact
