Getting a visa
I would like to get a visa for entering Japan.
Those who wish to flee to Japan may apply for a visa at the Japanese embassy or consulate general in neighboring countries of Ukraine. The Japanese embassy or consulate general can be found in the list of Foreign Mission in Japan (Japanese/English).
I have a child living in Japan, so I would like to flee to Japan.
If you wish to flee to Japan by visiting relatives or acquaintances in Japan, you must apply for a Temporary Visitor Visa at first.
There are 4 documents required to apply for it.
・Visa application form
・A headshot (45mm×35mm, or 2inch × 1.4inch)
・Passport
・Letter of Guarantee (prepared by relatives or acquaintances living in Japan) ※Click here to download the Letter of Guarantee format.
It is preferable that the format be submitted on paper. If it is not possible, you can send it as a PDF file, but it may take some time to verify.
In cases where the required documents are not available, such as when you cannot obtain a headshot, you do not have a passport, or the passport is available but has expired, you should consult with the Japanese embassy or consulate general in the neighboring country individually.
(For those whose countries of origin other than Ukraine) I would like to get a visa for entering Japan because I want to seek asylum in Japan.
Please contact your nearest Japanese embassy or consulate general, as visa requirements vary from country to country.
We will update this website to provide accurate information, as it changes constantly.
