Changing residency status
I've stayed in Japan with the residency status of "Student". However, I cannot return to Ukraine because of the war.
Those with a residency status other than "Temporary Visitor" can continue to remain in Japan if they are apprehensive about returning to Ukraine.
I do not have valid residency status in Japan but cannot return to my country of origin.
In general, you may get deported if a deportation order has been issued. The Immigration Services Agency of Japan announced that persons from Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Myanmar will not be deported against their will even if a deportation order has been issued. In addition, if you have a ground for asylum, your application for refugee status can be filed even if you do not have residency status. For more information, please consult Support-R.
