Moving to a destination
Can I make myself understood in English or other languages when using taxis or stations?
Most Japanese people do not speak any language other than English. In many cases, only Japanese is spoken. We recommend you install a translator on your smartphone.
I would like to move to the destination from the first airport I arrived at.
If you transfer to a domestic flight in order to travel to your destination, you must complete your immigration procedures at the first airport you arrive at.
If you do not need to transfer to a domestic flight, you can take a train or bus from the airport to your destination.
Please note that there may be restrictions on the use of public transportation due to Japanese border measures, so please check in advance.
Can I use my credit card when taking a train or bus?
You may only be able to use cash when using public transportation, such as purchasing a train or bus ticket or IC card. You can exchange your cash (paper money only) at the airport or a bank, but you need to make sure that the currency you have is the one that can be exchanged. U.S.dollars and euros can be exchanged anywhere. Credit cards are often accepted in taxis, but they are expensive and the cost can be very high if the distance traveled is long.
