Domestic remittance
I would like to send money from a bank to my relative who lives in another city in Japan.
From May 2022, the law stipulates that domestic remittances by "non-residents" will be treated as international remittances in principle. Since the handling offices and fees for some domestic remittances will be the same as those for international remittances. In addition, people who are working in Japan or who have been in Japan for more than 6 months are considered "residents". Please also refer to the following website.
・Sumitomo Mitsui Bank (Japanese/English)
・Mitsubishi UFJ Bank (Japanese/English)
We will update this website to provide accurate information, as it changes constantly.
